Llyn Clywedog Reservoir and Dam

The most popular attraction in the area is Clywedog Lake also known as Llyn Clywedog. Only five minutes from the caravan park by car, the lake covers an amazing 615 acres and has the tallest dam in Britain. The main viewing point is walkable from our park passing by Bryn Tail lead mines and arriving at the cafe.
There are a number of walks, such as the Clywedog Gorge Trail around the Bryn Tail Mine workings and the Llyn Clywedog Scenic Trail, while there are a number of viewing points arranged along the circular drive around the lake that allow the visitor to make the most of the wonderful panoramic views. The Lake offers sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and fishing and is also perfect for walking or just relaxing with a picnic.

Walking In Wales - Hafren Forest

There are miles of wonderfully scenic paths amongst the surrounding hills and forests that will satisfy casual strollers or confident walkers.

Just a few miles down the road from Red Kite Touring Park is the starting point for a range of wonderful walks, the shortest of which is suitable for a wheelchair and takes you along the cascades.

Other walks from the same starting point range from half an hour. Don’t be put off by it’s name - Break-it's-neck trail will lead you along the river, down steep steps to a bridge over a waterfall! The longest route will take you to the source of the River Severn on top of Pumlumon, a very popular with visitors to Llanidloes.

Red Kite Feeding Centre

The Red Kite is a magnificently graceful bird, and here is your chance to see them in action! At Gigrain Farm Wild Red Kites are fed every day of the year. The 160 acre family-run farm is located in the most beautiful countryside just a short drive from our touring park. Hundreds of the beautiful birds flock to the farm each day to snatch up their grub in front of your eyes as you watch from the hides.

The farm caters to all families, including dogs.

Elan Valley

A 25 minute drive will see you in the Elan Valley, a beautiful and unspoilt area made even more compelling by the dams and reservoirs which together create a wonderful, living landscape. The views are stunning and you are never far away from points of interest. A stones throw away, is the town of Rhayader which is perfect for a bite to eat on the way back.
