On the 1st July Terry, Carol, Richard and Emily welcomed local MP, Glyn Davies and AM, Russell George to officially open the Park.

The last two weeks have been very hectic with tarmacaround the park being finished, the last lorry load of turf and the toilet block being commissioned.

Over the last couple of weeks the roads have all been prepared ready for tarmac and the entrance has been finished. The base layer of tarmac has been laid with the top coat going on over the course of next week.

All pitches now in and only a few of the final block paviours are left to go in. We have also had nearly 3000 meters of turf delivered and layed over the last two weeks.

Oak doors have now been hung on the toilet block and the cant brick has been laid. Meanwhile, inside the plumbers have been busy getting the underfloor heating fired up and completing the first fix throughout. The laundrette and washing up room have been plastered and the whiterock wall installation has begun.

G F Grigg have welcomed the beautiful weather and are now beginning to work their way out of the park.

Over the few weeks, GF Grigg Construction have been getting the finishing top soil around many of the pitches and putting on the finishing gravel.

The second pond has now been dug out and has been linked to the other pond which was dug at the beginning. These will now hold back all the suface water run off from the site in the event of excess rainfail.

The structure of the toilet block is now more less complete, the roof is now all on and sealed, the canexel cladding is now finished with just the gutters and doors to go on soon.

Just a few images taken to show how the site looks as of today. As you can see the toilet block is taking shape, the pitch services are being finished and the pitch and road layouts continue to be finalised.

The new Klargester package treatment plant has arrived and lifted straight into position. It now needs to be connected to the foul drainage pipework and wired in.

The main roads around the park will be tarmac edged with brick paviours and the pitches in a brown coloured gravel edged with brick paviours in the opposite direction.

The timber frame for the toilet block has been erected and the roof is in the process of being finished.

The electricians and plumbers are now inside crrying out their 1st fix getting all the pipework and cables in position.

The first of the new ponds is now more or less finished and with the weather over the last few weeks not being great, it didn't take long to fill up!

The foundations for the toilet block on the caravan park and the caravan park reception are now in and are ready for the timber frame which will be arriving at the campsite in the new year.

Our contractors have been busy pulling hedgerows out and digging an area for our tool shed and sewage tank to be homed.

Also a footpath link has been created to allow customers at the Caravan Park to walk through the field and down into Llanidloes, also giving access to the new nature ponds, picnic benches and enclosed dog walk areas for holidaymakers on the caravan park.

With the plateau formations complete for the time being, GF Grigg are now laying the drainage pipes for our 66 super pitches on the new touring caravan park being constructed in Llanidloes, Powys, Mid Wales.

All four of the plateaus are now taking shape and some have a layer of stone on now so the rain shouldn't stop play. We have been extremely lucky with the weather and the contractors have made a lot of progress in the last few weeks.

After the erection of traffic lights, the main highway access is being constructed with many deliveries of stone taking place over the next few weeks.

Work has also started on the lower plateau getting the levels correct next to the newt pond in preparation for drainage and the formation of pitches.

GF Grigg start construction of the Red Kite Touring park today, after erecting safety fencing and installing their welfare unit. Our ecologist has also given them a induction on our resident 'Great Crested Newts'. The first task on the list is the construction of the first new nature pond which is pictured using a 22 ton Digger & 21 tone bull dozer.

Today we celebrate the final day of Newt Trapping on the Caravan Park. In total we have caught 54 Great Crested Newts and 248 Palmate Newts in addition to a wide variety of wildlife being found on the site. A full list is being composed by our ecologist from The Radnorshire Wildlife Trust.

On the 15th September we have received confirmation from the planning department that all pre commencement conditions have been satisfied, meaning that as soon as the Newt trapping is complete we have the green light for contruction to commence.

With help and guidance from our lead ecologist we appointed a specialist company to construct a temporary newt fence with pitfall traps and carpet tiles in order to collect any Great Crested Newts which may be in the fenced area where the Caravan Park will be.

In total we have over 3,000 metres of fencing and over 300 pitfall traps and carpet tiles.

Here are some photos of the site as it stands today. It is a gently sloping south facing site with beautiful views accross the valley and easily accessible whilst towing a caravan or whilst on foot for your morning paper.

After much discussion, we all agreed on the Park Name Red Kite Touring Park as we do have an abundance of Red Kites in the Mid Wales area.
